Alloy 400
2.4360 – N04400

HomeMaterials2.4360

Material description

Material 2.4360 is a nickel-copper alloy with a range of positive properties. 2.4360 (Alloy 400) has an extremely good resistance to alkalis, salt solutions, hydrofluoric acid, dilute non-oxidising acids and organic acids. Unlike many other materials, this material can also be used in fluorine and hydrogen fluoride environments as long as certain conditions are met.

In addition, 2.4360 has good mechanical properties at high temperatures of up to around 550°C and is resistant to stress corrosion cracking and dry gases such as oxygen, chlorine and hydrogen as well as sulphur dioxide and carbon dioxide.

Due to its many positive material properties, 2.4360 is used as the standard material for processing salts.

An overview of the properties of 2.4360:

  • Extremely good resistance to substances such as alkalis and salt solutions, deaerated hydrofluoric acid, dilute non-oxidising acids and organic acids
  • High resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion
  • Resistant to flowing seawater and in splash zones
  • Good resistance to dry gases
  • High strength

Applications

  • Offshore technology
  • Shipbuilding
  • Chemical and petrochemical industry
  • Environmental and wastewater technology
  • Salt industry
  • Oil industry
  • Power plant construction
