Material description
The material 2.4816 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy.
Thanks to its chromium content, the material can also be used under oxidising conditions. The high nickel content makes the alloy resistant in reducing environments. In addition, 2.4816 (Alloy 600) is characterised by high high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance – even in a sticking/carburising and ammonia-containing environment.
The material also has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking, dry chlorine and hydrogen chloride and demonstrates good mechanical properties at low, room and elevated temperatures.
AN OVERVIEW OF THE PROPERTIES OF 2.4816:
- Good oxidation resistance
- Good resistance to carburisation and embroidery
- Good mechanical properties (low, room and higher temperatures)
- Good resistance to stress corrosion cracking (room and higher temperatures)
- Good resistance to dry chlorine and hydrogen chloride (up to approx. 500-550 °C)
- Good resistance in acetic, hydrofluoric and fatty acids as well as caustic soda
Application
- Industrial furnace construction
- Nuclear technology
- Chemical engineering
- Production of hydrocarbons (chlorinated and fluorinated)
- Production of caustic alkalis (with sulphur compounds)
